MEXICO CITY (apro) – The head of government, Clara Brugada, acknowledged that the implementation of measures by authorities in the State of Mexico to combat the illegal sale of water had repercussions in Mexico City, mainly in the Iztapalapa borough, where mobilizations of tanker truck operators and those responsible for purification centers were recorded.

From the Old City Hall Palace, Brugada recalled that these actions in the State of Mexico impacted some points in the capital, where water was being acquired irregularly from companies that operated without the corresponding permits, although she did not offer more details on this issue.

The mayor of the capital city stressed the need for all operations related to water distribution to be carried out within the legal framework.

“The important thing here is that everything starts to be legalized, and that way everyone has the right to buy water, as long as it is legal; it is an issue in Mexico City that does have an impact, especially in the outskirts like Iztapalapa, where people used to buy from these companies; everything has to be built legally, legalized, and move forward,” Brugada said.

The measures implemented by the State of Mexico government included the closure of illegal wells, which led, on October 27, to the mobilization of more than 200 workers from water purification plants and tanker truck operators who maintained blockades from the morning on Eje 6 Sur, at the height of Avenida de las Torres and Ermita Iztapalapa, as well as on key highways in the east and west of the Valley of Mexico.
